Join the United Repair Centre: Repair the Clothing Industry at Scale

Join United Repair Centre and help build the technology that’s transforming the clothing industry—one repair at a time

We’re United Repair Centre (URC), and we’re on a mission to reshape the clothing industry by extending the life of clothing while putting people first. Our scalable repair approach and platform serves global brands, cuts textile waste, and puts craftsmanship and impact at the heart of the clothing industry, while creating meaningful jobs for people distanced from the labor market.

As URC’s backend stack engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building our core technology ecosystem and scaling our SaaS platform from MVP to market leader. You’ll be involved in shaping and building our product end to end.

  • Design and build scalable backend services using Node.js

  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and product owners to ship valuable features

  • Turn business ideas into clear, well-structured technical tasks

  • Suggest and drive improvements in architecture, tooling, and development workflows

  • Take part in code reviews, documentation, and mentoring less experienced teammates

Your Mission

As Backend stack engineer, you will:

  • Work across both backend and frontend parts of the application (though your focus will be on backend layer)

  • Integrate with external APIs and third-party services

  • Write code that’s easy to maintain, performant, and ready to scale

  • Create unit and integration tests (Jest or similar)

  • Apply and promote best practices (SOLID, DRY, KISS)

  • Participate in Agile rituals and continuous delivery processes

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience working with Node.js and Express.js (Nest.js is also welcome)

  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)

  • Experience with Jest, Swagger, PgAdmin, MongoDB

  • Understanding of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT)

  • Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure is a plus)

  • Proven experience using and implementing design patterns in production systems

  • Comfortable using Git, Docker, and the Linux command line

  • Basic knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

  • Good English communication skills

  • Strong affinity for URC’s mission

 Bonus Skills

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar tools

  • Awareness of security best practices and how to apply them

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform

What We Offer

  • A key role in a fast-growing, purpose-driven company

  • Direct influence on our technology direction and team building

  • A salary aligned with the market and our growth phase

  • Flexible/remote working setup

  • A well being programme and personal budget

  • A culture where impact, autonomy and craftsmanship matter
